Soyuz - II
SOYUZ stole our hearts in 2022 when they released the album "Force Of The Wind" to critical acclaim. Here we present the predecessor to that LP, the band's second long-player from 2019, which was previously only available digitally. It captures a crucial developmental phase in the band's career, with the recordings representing a snapshot of what would become their sound on "Force Of The Wind", but with echoes of the avant-psychedelic pop of years gone by.
The recordings were made at a time when bandleader Alex Chumak had moved from Minsk to Kiev, torn between the need to try something new and the homesickness that came with it. Alex traveled back to Minsk almost weekly to record with his bandmates Mikita Arlou and Stanislav Murashko at Studio 42 II. The album captures these fleeting feelings, contextualized by the wide range of influences the band was nourished by. From MPB to ethio-jazz to the Italian library soundtracks of Piero Piccioni and Piero Umiliani, the album shines with a touch of joy from around the world
